5 Ways to Spend Your Day in Cambridge!

Whether you are a local, a prospective student, or just enjoying your time around Harvard Square, our student guides know the best way to make your trip a special one. Here are the 5 best ways to spend 24 hours in Cambridge!

Browse at the Harvard Book Store

The Harvard Book Store has been a family-owned, independently run bookstore since 1932. With a beautiful space on the corner of Mass. Ave. and Plympton St. (official known as “Frank, Mark, and Pauline Kramer Square”, in honor of the HBS founding family), you can explore their shelves and find great deals on both new and pre-owned books!

One of the 4 Harvard Museums of Science & Culture, HMNH contains exhibits like the Blaschka Glass Flowers, and the world’s only mounted skeleton of the 42 ft.-long Kronosaurus. If you prefer, check out the Peabody Museum, the Harvard Museum of the Ancient Near East, or the Collection of Historical Scientific Instruments.

Explore the Charles River

In Harvard Square you can walk and sit along the famous Charles River, or cross the Weeks footbridge towards Harvard Business School. Just a short Red Line away at Kendall Square, another Cambridge neighborhood, you can rent canoes, kayaks, or stand-up paddleboards! Get your practice paddles in and then come back for Head of the Charles!

Listen to Music at Club Passim

Looking for something to do late night? Check out the live music scene at Club Passim. Passim has been presenting new and established performers representing a wide range of genres from folk to jazz for over 60 years. Tickets can be purchased in person or on their website at passim.org.
